Six integrated verticals across the global energy value chain — from exploration and production through to clean energy transition.
Blackrock Energy Holdings operates across six core business segments, each representing a distinct but interconnected part of the global energy value chain. Our multi-segment model allows us to capture value at multiple points, deploy capital where risk-return dynamics are most favourable, and serve clients and partners across the full spectrum of energy investment.
We invest in and develop oil and gas exploration and production assets across frontier and emerging basins. Our upstream strategy focuses on acreage acquisition, early-stage development financing, and portfolio management — executed in collaboration with established operators and national oil companies who bring operational capability to complement our capital and commercial structuring.
We are not passive investors. We bring active investment management, project structuring expertise, and commercial rigour to each upstream position we hold. Our target geographies include Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, and the Middle East — basins characterised by significant remaining resource potential and commercially viable development economics.
Gas infrastructure remains the most critical and underbuilt segment of the energy ecosystem in emerging markets. Flared gas, stranded reserves, and chronic downstream shortages exist not from lack of resource, but from a fundamental gap in midstream infrastructure investment. We invest in and develop assets designed to close that gap.
Our midstream portfolio spans gas gathering systems, processing plants, pipelines, LNG and CNG value chains, and gas monetisation infrastructure across various scales and geographies. Our midstream investments are structured around long-term offtake agreements and designed to attract institutional and development finance co-investment.
Blackrock Energy Holdings participates in the trading of crude oil, petroleum products, LNG, and natural gas across global and regional markets. Our trading capability provides offtake solutions for upstream producers, supply chain management for downstream consumers, and structured commodity transactions for financial counterparties.
We operate with strong credit discipline and compliance frameworks appropriate for a regulated global trading environment. Our trading positions are informed by deep knowledge of physical market dynamics in our target geographies — particularly within Africa and the broader Atlantic Basin — rather than purely financial speculation.
Physical spot and term trading across key global benchmarks and emerging market grades
Refined product supply chain management across African and Middle Eastern markets
Flexible volume LNG transactions and structured gas supply agreements
Commodity-backed finance, prepay structures, and offtake financing solutions
We provide independent, high-calibre advisory services to energy companies, investors, development finance institutions, and governments. Our advisory mandate spans the full transaction and project development lifecycle — from initial market assessment and opportunity identification through to financial close and post-completion asset management support.
We bring the same commercial rigour, technical grounding, and sector expertise to our advisory work that we apply to our own investments. Clients engage us when they need more than generic consultancy — when the complexity of the transaction or market requires a team that has operated from the investor seat.
Structuring, due diligence support, and execution advisory for upstream, midstream, and power transactions across emerging markets.
Policy design, sector restructuring, licensing framework development, and investment promotion for ministries and regulators.
Project finance, mezzanine, equity structuring, and development finance mobilisation for energy infrastructure projects.
Comprehensive market intelligence, regulatory mapping, and entry strategy for investors and operators entering new jurisdictions.
Access to reliable, affordable energy is both a humanitarian imperative and an investable commercial opportunity. We develop and invest in distributed energy solutions, off-grid power, LPG value chains, and community energy projects targeted at underserved populations and small commercial clusters in emerging markets.
Energy access is not philanthropy — it is a disciplined investment category with measurable returns and transformative impact. We structure energy access investments to achieve financial sustainability, scalability, and development impact in equal measure. Our projects are designed to attract development finance institution co-investment alongside commercial capital.
The global energy transition presents both risk and opportunity for emerging market energy investors. We engage with the transition through investments in gas-as-bridge-fuel infrastructure, carbon management, clean cooking, and selective renewable energy projects that are commercially viable without subsidy dependency.
Our transition strategy is grounded in the realities of emerging markets — where energy access and economic development must advance alongside decarbonisation, and where the pathway to net zero will be fundamentally different from that in advanced economies. We do not import transition frameworks designed for markets that have already achieved universal energy access. We build transition pathways that are appropriate, credible, and commercially durable for the markets we serve.
Transition strategies built for emerging market realities — not imported frameworks.
